Sean Erfan

Hi. I'm Sean Erfan.

I am interning as a Full Stack Software Engineer at North Atlantic Industries. I recently graduated from Stony Brook University with a double major in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics & Statistics. I co-founded the Artificial Intelligence Community and served as President for 2 years. I won prizes in 4 hackathons, most recently my company's internal hackathon and HackHarvard 2024. Some of my previous involvements included being the Secretary of the Stony Brook Computing Society. I am seeking full-time Software Engineering opportunities in New York.

Learn about what I do

Here's some of the stuff I have done.

SWE Intern @ NAI

I have been interning at North Atlantic Industries since May where I have been building full-stack apps. My main project is an Android app that involves wave-picking, or fulfilling multiple warehouse orders at the same time to reduce repeat trips. It is currently being used in the warehouse to fulfill 30+ orders per week. Another app I built won honorable mention at my company's internal hackathon, which has been deployed and is used to plan which kits can be processed in advance.

Student at Stony Brook University

I graduated with a double major in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics & Statistics in 3 years with a GPA of 3.96! I was in the University Scholars honors program and was the President of the AI Community, Secretary of the Stony Brook Computing Society, a data structures teaching assistant, and a natural language processing research assistant.

Co-Founder of AI Community @ SBU

I co-founded Stony Brook's AI club in my freshman year, where I was VP for 1 year and President for 2 years. I led an e-board of 10 people, hosted machine learning workshops and competitions, organized guest speaker events, and helped establish our presence within the University. My proudest accomplishments include hosting our datathon with 50+ competitors and gaining official recognition as a CEAS organization.

Hackathons

I participated in several hackathons, earning prizes at four of them:

  • Hopperhacks 2024 - AI Track Winner
  • SBUHacks 2024 - Best use of MongoDB Atlas
  • HackHarvard 2024 - AllHealth Track Winner
  • NAI Company Hackathon - Honorable Mention

Data Structures Teaching Assistant

I hosted a 1-hour recitation every week to go over review problems, and 3 hours of office hours to answer questions about course content and debug homeworks. During finals week, I held a review session with over 60 students to explain previous exam questions and answer student questions.

Research Assistant in NLP

My team and I have gathered articles on the Russia-Ukraine war to gather varying perspectives about the conflict and find different NLP tasks that we can perform, including contradiction detection, sentiment analysis, and attributing quotes to a specific person.
